Chris St. John releases "Fly Away"

"Fly Away" by US based artist, Chris St. John was released earlier this year, and the album has already conjured thousands of streams online.

This track sees the range of acoustic guitar ring out in the introduction with calming, soft tones and steady fingerpicking that create an lullaby like build-up. As the track progresses, it then cresends into a much more action packed soundscape, with chest thumping drums and soaring female vocals. The vocal performance truly sends shivers down my spine throughout this track as if they were a country spectre flying all around the instrumentation.  


There’s an undoubted groove that could get any head nodding along with ease. The catchy sing-along melodies certainly don’t do any harm either. It certainly isn't the most overwhelming or provoking song, however, it's an upbeat, foot stomping track that engages anybody with it's wide range of unique instrumentation, from a mix of electric guitars, strings to even fast paced organs.

Fly Away is a melancholic and gentle track that is full of delicate sounds and an intense atmosphere, especially after the intricate introduction. With breaks where no vocals are present, it gives the instruments a moment to shine and synchronise, with solos and drum fills to a danceable boiling point.

The aforementioned acoustic guitar carry the vocals amazingly, and beautifully couples with the melancholic, narrative lyrics. It never fails to amaze, and builds and blooms into a grandeur piece of art.
