Dlai - Outta Town Freak
Dlai, and Khris Kambo releases "Outta Town Freak"
This energetic, upbeat track will most definitely be stuck in your head all day, with fast paced rhythmic vocals and a clear, yet action packed soundscape.
The layered, harmonic vocals add a whole new range of depth to the track, introduced by Dlai, who is inspired by artists from Chris Brown, to Michael Jackson, which is proven by his music that bursts with creativity and originality, right from the get go, every single time.
Each element is involved in the soundscape and plays an important role in creating the final product, which has came out great! This track is a very important milestone in the musical career of Dlai.
Towards the end of this 3 minute hit, there's a dramatic fade, leaving you urging to hear more. If I could criticize this track in any way, it would simply be saying it needs to be longer! I've already found myself listening to it on repeat.
Check it out below! alongside an interview
What inspired you to get into music?
Might be a weird answer, but what inspired me to get into music was just the realization life is
short.
We might not have the gift of tomorrow to express ourselves or leave something behind (some
sort of legacy, whether big or small), so every day is an opportunity to be inspired and to inspire
others. Music is the vehicle to do exactly that. It allows people to transcend time and seek
peace.
How would you describe your music?
The best way to describe my music is it’s the perfect blend of old school mixed with the new
generation of R&B. A little nostalgic, but wavy with current trends.
As an artist, my goal is to evolve on the musical frontier, while taking risks to blend different
genres of music, to create something truly special and unique.
What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
My recording and writing style are spontaneous, in the moment, issa vibe kinda shit. I freestyle
most of my songs. Once I hear something, I vibe a certain way and the words just flow with
vulnerability and meaning.
Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years’ time?
Honestly, who knows where my music will be in 5 years’ time. Music is subjective, not objective.
I can only stick to my rhythm and flow, messages, and beliefs. Hopefully, that’s enough for the
short-term. In the meantime, my purpose is to create so listeners can relate to my energy,
message, and sound.
