Tony Burgess "METALDRIVE" - Redemption
Utah artist Tony Burgess ("METALDRIVE") releases "Redemption"
The aweinspiring 6 track compilation begins with "Stay Alive".
Right from the get go, you know it will be a track which roars from the speakers, both literally and metaphorically. The power of the vocals, the riffs which seem to relentlessly gain momentum and the constant thud of the drums all melt into one to create a sound of virtually unparalleled vigour. Their sound if one of anger, animosity, and downright wickedness, and it’s amazing that it has the stamina to not drop from its intensity throughout.
There is, though, a sense of structure in their sound. There’s a certain feeling of tightness in amongst the mayhem as it unfolds around your ears. Seemingly all held together by the guitars, it moves along with purpose, and although there is no clear verse, chorus, etc, it just gives off a vibe of being quite meticulously written, planned out, and then unleashed ferociously!
The 2nd track is "Your Soul Reaper"
This is truly a track which fills your senses. It will be sure to make your heart beat rapidly and your ears ring with its seemingly infinite vitality, all making your feel a little hazy by the time the five minutes are up. It’s a song which can’t be truly described in words and needs to be heard, so go take a listen for yourself…
The vocals build throughout, with power, depth and a strong sense of confidence.
Perfect for a song influenced by genres from Rock to Metal.
Next is "Dragon Storm"
Lurking around every corner is a drum fill or a screeching guitar riff. The artist has achieved a ferocity that is unmatched, especially in comparison to a lot of new music at the minute, and I can only imagine that this will be even more impactful on the live stage. METALDRIVE should get revved up for a summer of mosh pitting crowds and pints in the air!
The 6 minute song ends with a tranquil, subdued section, that leaves you on the edge of your seat awaiting the introduction of the 4th track "Evermore"
The way the vocals and guitar work together is definitely something to be admired. The riffs follow along with the thunderous vocals perfectly.
The fuzzy, distorted guitar radiates around each ear, with complexity and the aforementioned slight structure.
The 2nd to last track is "In For The Kill"
Feeling like a modern Led Zeppelin, with performances as good as this, METALDRIVE is bound to bring 70's style heavy metal back to the popular mainstream. The fast paced, deep percussion beats through your chest, intriguing you and drawing you in.
It leaves you on the edge of your seat, for the finale track. "Invisible"
Invisible is filled with creativity, originality and uniqueness, yet it still contains the influence of typical heavy metal. It definitely is my favourite track from Redemption, with many different musical styles being implemented, it flows from section to section, with different element to the next. Truly fulfills the record, before fading into the distance, leaving you wanting to hear more of what Metaldrive can create.
