Odd-Arne Jacobsen - Angel Eyes

Once more we have had the pleasure of assisting to the release of this brilliant EP by the phenomenal Odd-Arne Jacobsen.

Here we can listen to Odd-Arne Jacobsen performing 2 versions of Matt Dennis' Angel Eyes from 1946 however this EP is performed in a truly unique way.

Odd-Arne has recorded two versions of the song and invites the listener to join two different emotional journeys on each take.

Odd-Arne Jacobsen manages to offer this beautiful song a personal tone thanks to his impressive skills as an improvisational jazz musician. He plays this song on his Gibson Byrdland guitar, and there is no denying that he manages to bring out the true essence of this song even without the lyrics. Needless to say, Odd-Arne Jacobsen has superb skills as a guitarist as this is not something that can be that easily achieved by any musician.

Part of this well-known song says; “Have you ever had the feeling; That the world’s gone and left you behind”, and in reality these lyrics are brought to life in one’s mind when you listen to the impressive way Odd-Arne Jacobsen play alone on his guitar. You feel as if you want to close your eyes and think back on your life, while reminiscing what happened and what could have been.

The recording of this piece was made in Odd-Arnes Music Room last March thanks to the excellent recording of Andre Myhren and Emil Bekkevold who took care of the mixing. A huge well done to all concerned in the recording and release of this EP which is bound to be played over and over again by many guitar and music lovers, especially those who used to love this piece and who will surely fall in love with it all over again thanks to Odd-Arne Jacobsen.
