James Burt releases 'Leave So Soon'

Having just released his previous single ‘Sing that Song’ in April, James continues to tap into a retro aesthetic.

Moving further from his 2020 alternative indie debut with Bring Me The Horizon producer Al Groves ‘Dance in the Rain’, James continues to come out with 80s pop vibes.

He received BBC Nottingham’s track of the week and got further coverage in Music News, Vents, and Fame. BBC presenter Dean Jackson described James as ‘a superstar in the making.’

The rising 23-year-old pop star extolled the power of pensive sadness juxtaposed with
self-realisation in his boundlessly energetic and soul-bearing track, ‘Heartbreak High’.

Burt’s fourth single ‘Sing That Song’
continued that narrative but found inspiration in something arguably even greater: love.
And now James releases one of his most anthemic track yet ‘Leave So Soon’.

James teams up with guitarist Dimi Kaye and producer Jen Foo aka YORU 夜. James
handles the songwriting duties as well as the vocals and production alongside Producer
YORU 夜.

Dimi Kaye provides the high
energy fuelled guitars creating a unified feel to this nostalgic track. By embracing a
nostalgia for the 1980s, Burt attempts to capture the era’s atmosphere and this is
characterised by the high tempo, rapid arpeggiators, punchy gated-reverb
drumbeats and a particularly flashy electric guitar solo.

James attempts to capture the feeling of loneliness alongside the feeling of nostalgia. This track appears to draw inspiration from acts such as The Midnight, Kalax and even 80s film phenomenon Flashdance.
