BLUE FEEL - March of the Crimson Crabs
BLUE FEEL
March of the Crimson Crabs
INTRODUCTION
We are 3 long haired, music lovin’, psychheads and we’re pumped to present our most recent project. MOTCC is a full concept album blurring the lines between a psy-fi plot and present day political and social issues in a rock album. Our sound influences come from deep roots in classic rock [Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath] and that new age juice from Cali and Australia [King Gizzard, Cory Hanson, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Ty Segall, etc.]
Blue Feel’s music is a perfect example of what it’s like to produce great rock music with a classic feel, and a modern edge. The band is about to drop their second album, “March of the Crimson Crabs,” which is a big step forward for the group, musically and creatively. The record features mastering from Cory Hansen of Wand, who is going to help the band expand their sonic signature and their depth of sound on this release.
One of the most distinctive traits of this release is certainly the energy, and the drive that fuels the performance of the band. The vocals feel very animated and spontaneous, an obvious sign that this performer is actually genuinely connecting with their melodies, in a much deeper way. What makes the band’s new album special is definitely the fact that it showcases the band’s diverse stylistic references, as well as signaling their ability to blur the lines between various influences.
The group’s music is highly recommended if you are a fan of classic rock with an indie edge to it, and a different approach to songwriting and composition.
In addition to the personable and edgy performance value, this release is also quite distinctive because of the sheer quality of the production. The mix is balanced and very detail-oriented, making for a lively, edgy and stark sonic approach. In other words, there are many subtle nuances in this release, which really add to the richness of the track when summed up together. The frequency spectrum of the mix is also very balanced, with a tight, yet deep low end working wonders along with a smooth top end, which adds a sense of clarity to the music. The sound stands out for its modern sound, but although the production is quite polished, it is never overproduced, allowing a lot of wonderfully organic and “human” elements to really add liveliness to the mix.
Ultimately, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a shot, particularly if you are a fan of artists such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Ty Segall. This is the kind of track that will surprise you for its sonic variety, and it will keep you on the edge of your seat due to its catchy, yet unpredictable arrangement. I always love to hear from artists who set the bar higher and push the envelope when it comes to their productions: this certainly appears to be the case!
