Blind Season - The Torch and the Library

Blind Season on 'The Torch and the Library' -

This was a riff I had for years saved in my phone with the chorus melody hummed with it. I waited on it for so long until a day came where I had nothing else to work on because I knew it would be a fun song. In hindsight the lyrics come across as an “all bets are off” kind of tone which is why it’s the first song on the album"

Rock and Roll and turbulent relationships have gone hand in hand since the beginning of time. The origins of Blind Season are no different. Beginning with a rag tag group only forming through the means of owning instruments, and an evening involving the smashing of a mutual friend’s car. Blind Season had undergone 5 different incarnations until Shane Sigro the founding guitarist was faced with the ultimate decision between succumbing to normalcy or proving the previous members wrong. Choosing the latter, Sigro doubled down by taking vocal lessons and penning the new music that would breathe life into the new era of Blind Season.Blind Season’s upcoming album is an ode to loneliness and toxicity that feel as if they were ripped from Billy Corgan’s Diary and featured in a film by Tim Burton. With the current questionable climate of the world there’s no question that this album will find its proper home and become a sign of the times.

Review-

This ambient rock track begins dramatically, with heavy instrumentation and a fuzzy electric riff that is repeated many times throughout the song. The clear but not too isolated vocals are introduced very well and fit well with the instrumental backing style.

Soft, easy-going verses draw you in, before the sounds burst into emotion at the chorus. A roller coaster of feelings seems to be what the band are trying to achieve, whilst throwing in some roaring guitar licks too.

A softer side to Blind Season can be seen in this track too, but in doing so neither lose any of the bands inherent anthemia; the latter coming across like an alt mixture of Foo Fighters and Disturbed.

It's an uplifting rock song that features some out of the blue guitar sections, which is what makes this track unique.

The cover art of the track (above), really made my original expectations differ from what I experienced whilst listening to the music, as the artwork made me expect a calming acoustic indie song, but I was greeted with the rock music. However I wasn't disappointed in the slightest.
